Flip the frame over, and place it on a piece of poster board or corrugated cardboard. Trace the opening of the frame onto the board, adding 1/4 inch to the top edge; cut out with scissors.<br _extended="true" /><br _extended="true" />2. Coat the smooth side of the board with super spray adhesive, and adhere a 2-mm-thick sheet of mirrored film to it. Trim any excess film around the edges of the board. Apply a thin strip of hot glue to the inner lip at the top of the frame; secure one edge of the mirrored board to the lip. Repeat process on bottom lip. This will create a slight concave curve in the mirror, since the board will be larger than your frame.<br _extended="true" /><br _extended="true" />3. The curve in the mirror will leave small gaps between the mirror and the sides of the frame. Cut pieces of cardboard in the shape of these gaps and cover them with mirrored film. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I SO love a bubbling cauldron!! This makes any drink so much tastier! </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For this bubbling cauldron you need a cauldron (can be plastic), dry ice and another non-glass bowl. I use my large metal mixing bowl. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Put pieces of the dry ice into the cauldron then cover the ice with water. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Next place your non-glass bowl in the cauldron and pour your drink into it. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The next thing I need to get my hands on is a cool, spooky ladle to scoop the drink out with! </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">**note** you need to buy enough dry ice to allow you to keep putting pieces in throughout the night. I bought mine at Kroger- it was the only grocery store that carried it- and I think I just bought one block and it lasted the whole party. Buy it as close to start time as possible and keep it in a cooler. </span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3169933799088017380.post-60322282863114786912010-10-13T08:00:00.005-05:002010-10-13T08:00:08.875-05:00Day 13<div style="text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TLSxshat-sI/AAAAAAAAAME/LexaruKf0Uk/s1600/recipe.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="90" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TLSxshat-sI/AAAAAAAAAME/LexaruKf0Uk/s320/recipe.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I know that people have different ideas when it comes to autumn treats, but for me, if it's warm and yummy, it is an autumn treat! I believe no room in the house needs to be left out of the fun! This is not a hard craft and you don't need a tutorial on it, you just need to do it!<br />
I bought the dish towel from Walmart last year. I think they are only $1.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZQdMKJjbI/AAAAAAAAABY/DdYOUWIrcnU/s1600/DSC_1050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZQdMKJjbI/AAAAAAAAABY/DdYOUWIrcnU/s320/DSC_1050.JPG" width="214" /></a></div><br />
I also bought this cool fabric last year.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSaIa-xoI/AAAAAAAAAB4/3hu5Ol8-hZE/s1600/DSC_1052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSaIa-xoI/AAAAAAAAAB4/3hu5Ol8-hZE/s320/DSC_1052.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
There are so many different things you can do on your towlels but I'm into ruffles right now so that's what I'm going to do with this towel. First I measured the fabric to get a strip twice the width of my towel. I wanted a 2 inch ruffle so I cut the fabric 4 inches wide.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZR7eLeKxI/AAAAAAAAABk/md0kKM-EM0s/s1600/DSC_1053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZR7eLeKxI/AAAAAAAAABk/md0kKM-EM0s/s320/DSC_1053.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then I folded it right sides in and stitched it together. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSAY0MT1I/AAAAAAAAABo/RcpAuoxL1_A/s1600/DSC_1054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSAY0MT1I/AAAAAAAAABo/RcpAuoxL1_A/s320/DSC_1054.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I flipped it right side out and ironed it.<br />
Then I did a running stitch down the center so I could gather the ruffle. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSFFvo4tI/AAAAAAAAABs/FnGU-npylHQ/s1600/DSC_1055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSFFvo4tI/AAAAAAAAABs/FnGU-npylHQ/s320/DSC_1055.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I gathered the ruffle and pinned it in place along the width of the towel. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSITQxV5I/AAAAAAAAABw/IjovGy1436A/s1600/DSC_1061.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="170" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSITQxV5I/AAAAAAAAABw/IjovGy1436A/s320/DSC_1061.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The last step is to sew along the center of the ruffle to attach it to the towel! Simple! and Cute!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSLkcpdyI/AAAAAAAAAB0/5UtvA4JKep4/s1600/DSC_1067.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZSLkcpdyI/AAAAAAAAAB0/5UtvA4JKep4/s320/DSC_1067.JPG" width="250" /></a></div><br />

It is a Halloween mini album that will be perfect to fill with pictures of our little ghoul's 1st Halloween! I can't wait! Mini albums are so fun! It's different from the traditional scrapbook because mini albums usually just capture one event. Of course you could use them as your standard scrapbook, but it is so fun to have a basket full of mini albums highlighting events from your past year. If you have any questions about something I used for the mini, just email me.<br />

I love cider! I love to cook it and let the aroma fill the house and I really love to drink it! There are so many recipes for cider out there but this is my favorite for many reasons. It's quick, tastes very delicious and looks perfect brewing on the stove!<br />

If you don't have a Dollar King in your area I have a neat tip for you. You can always spray paint any silk flower to be the color of your choice! I put some hot glue in the holes so the flowers won't fall out. You could also wrap floral wire around each flower and attach it that way if you're into that. It takes a lot longer but it may be more durable. <br />

OCTOBER! The month we've all been waiting for! The decorations are up and the baking has begun! We had Zucchini-Chocolate Chip Muffins for breakfast this morning and they were the perfect beginning to the perfect month!<br />
Since it is officially Halloween month, I thought it would be fun to have a post a day featuring<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">a recipe, </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">a quote or saying, </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-large;">and a craft. </span> </div>That's 31 days of fabulous Halloween ideas! This is my goal but, truth be told, we are expecting a little "ghoul" this month {How appropriate- an October baby!!!} so hopefully I will be on the ball enough to get the posts up. If not, you'll know why. <br />
So lets start with the muffin <span class="Apple-style-span">recipe</span>:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKozmTFrzzI/AAAAAAAAAGo/L-PXFxWDUFg/s1600/00018D.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="90" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKozmTFrzzI/AAAAAAAAAGo/L-PXFxWDUFg/s320/00018D.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><strong><u>Zucchini-Chocolate Chip Muffins</u></strong> <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZUaCZje7I/AAAAAAAAACA/fuwLqD3vEow/s1600/DSC_1051.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKZUaCZje7I/AAAAAAAAACA/fuwLqD3vEow/s320/DSC_1051.JPG" width="320" /></a></div></div><div style="text-align: center;">1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour </div><div style="text-align: center;">3/4 cup sugar </div><div style="text-align: center;">1 teaspoon baking soda </div><div style="text-align: center;">1 teaspoon ground cinnamon </div><div style="text-align: center;">1/2 teaspoon salt </div><div style="text-align: center;">1 egg, lightly beaten </div><div style="text-align: center;">1/2 cup vegetable oil </div><div style="text-align: center;">1/4 cup milk </div><div style="text-align: center;">1 tablespoon lemon juice </div><div style="text-align: center;">1 teaspoon vanilla extract </div><div style="text-align: center;">1 cup shredded zucchini </div><div style="text-align: center;">1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips </div><div style="text-align: center;">1/4 cup chopped walnuts </div><span class="plaincharacterwrap break">In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Combine the egg, oil, milk, lemon juice and vanilla; mix well. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in zucchini, chocolate chips and walnuts. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until muffins test done. </span><br />
<br />
<span class="plaincharacterwrap break">Let's be honest about one thing, 1/4 cup chocolate chips is never enough! I poor them in until I'm satisfied!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKozt5jrycI/AAAAAAAAAGw/tfBkUGrhUYc/s1600/00011x.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="115" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TKozt5jrycI/AAAAAAAAAGw/tfBkUGrhUYc/s320/00011x.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><span class="plaincharacterwrap break">One of my favorite <span class="Apple-style-span">quotes</span> is from Shakespeare:</span><br />

I did some Halloween crafts with a girlfriend this week and she picked up the perfect frame at the dollar store. It was a rectangular frame and the mat had an oval on one side and a square on the other. We printed out the above witch picture and phrase and put them in the frame. The only tricky part is getting the image and phrase sized just right. But it only took about 5 minutes for the whole craft! It was really cute! I'm thinking of picking some up and doing a whole Halloween character gallery. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="plaincharacterwrap break">Here is a craft I did with this saying last year. </span><br />

Nothing says Halloween to me more than tromping through a pumpkin patch. This year I'm feeling like adding a bit more glam-spook with black and white Halloween decorations. I love these images a lot:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUUxdrKeI/AAAAAAAAAAM/1mcGBBWJCMU/s1600/9-16-08+halloween+decor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUUxdrKeI/AAAAAAAAAAM/1mcGBBWJCMU/s400/9-16-08+halloween+decor.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">apartmenttherapy.com (pottery barn?)<br />
Love the spooky background scene and two feather boa wreaths!<br />
<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUXbNkVxI/AAAAAAAAAAQ/KFhDsKa8f_Q/s1600/Fall+Decor+for+Dining+Room.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="360" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUXbNkVxI/AAAAAAAAAAQ/KFhDsKa8f_Q/s400/Fall+Decor+for+Dining+Room.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">furniturestoreblog.com<br />
The big hanging lantern/light really sets a great mood in this room. I bet it's great lit up at night!<br />
<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUaJff2WI/AAAAAAAAAAU/vaRUlzBohGs/s1600/halloween_decor_flickr1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUaJff2WI/AAAAAAAAAAU/vaRUlzBohGs/s400/halloween_decor_flickr1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">vintagemint.com<br />
There's something about that primitive pumpkin painting on the mantle that feels like Halloween. I also love the white pumpkins on the tall candlesticks, clustered white pitchers and white frames.<br />
<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUahqBtqI/AAAAAAAAAAY/Cct1mAa02L0/s1600/ss_101202963.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUahqBtqI/AAAAAAAAAAY/Cct1mAa02L0/s400/ss_101202963.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">bhg.com<br />
I can't wait to make my own Halloween linens! I might do it tomorrow!<br />
<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUbuMYWnI/AAAAAAAAAAc/MDplx4IBwqU/s1600/ss_101332409.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_NlCApcBgnac/TGtUbuMYWnI/AAAAAAAAAAc/MDplx4IBwqU/s400/ss_101332409.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">bhg.com<br />
Silhouettes are perfect for Halloween. Make it a princess/queen silhouette and pair it with this great phrase and you have "glam-Halloween"!<br />
