Let The Celebration Begin!

It's here!  OCTOBER!  The month we've all been waiting for!  The decorations are up and the baking has begun!  We had Zucchini-Chocolate Chip Muffins for breakfast this morning and they were the perfect beginning to the perfect month!
Since it is officially Halloween month, I thought it would be fun to have a post a day featuring
a recipe,
a quote or saying,
and a craft.
That's 31 days of fabulous Halloween ideas!  This is my goal but, truth be told, we are expecting a little "ghoul" this month {How appropriate- an October baby!!!} so hopefully I will be on the ball enough to get the posts up.  If not, you'll know why.
So lets start with the muffin recipe:
Zucchini-Chocolate Chip Muffins
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup shredded zucchini
1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Combine the egg, oil, milk, lemon juice and vanilla; mix well. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Fold in zucchini, chocolate chips and walnuts. Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until muffins test done.

Let's be honest about one thing, 1/4 cup chocolate chips is never enough!  I poor them in until I'm satisfied!
One of my favorite quotes is from Shakespeare:
'Tis now the very witching time of night!
I LOVE this picture!

And now for a craft!  I did some Halloween crafts with a girlfriend this week and she picked up the perfect frame at the dollar store.  It was a rectangular frame and the mat had an oval on one side and a square on the other.  We printed out the above witch picture and phrase and put them in the frame.  The only tricky part is getting the image and phrase sized just right.  But it only took about 5 minutes for the whole craft!  It was really cute!  I'm thinking of picking some up and doing a whole Halloween character gallery.
Here is a craft I did with this saying last year.

Frame: purchased at Ross
Background: newspaper
Saying: printed on cardstock with inked edges
Witch: graphicsfairy.blogspot.com -LOVE this site!  Thanks Karen!
Glue it all together and you have a cool, spooky art piece to add to your mantel!
